Immunizations
The CDC recognized the value and convenience of pharmacy-led vaccination efforts by forming the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccination and naming CPESN as a federal pharmacy partner. Now, more than ever, community pharmacies are in the best position to help protect public health – starting with existing immunizations that patients need.
The Immunizations Progression focuses on integrating processes into your workflow and providing additional resources to help you feel confident in your ability to assess and fulfill vaccination needs in your community. The progression provides steps on how to identify care gaps within immunization records, incorporate workflow processes to support vaccine services, and document the immunizations within eCare plans and registries. One example of additional resources is the FREE “No Excuses” Immunization Program offered by NCPA Innovation Center to help pharmacies implement or expand immunization services in the pharmacy. The progression will also provide information on establishing medical billing capabilities and coordinating immunization care with prescribers.
